Detail
RISVEGLI (Awakenings) is the visual storytelling of five Covid-19 survivors, in the intensive care unit of the Santo Spirito Hospital in Pescara, when Italy was in the middle of the nightmare of the pandemic. Medical and human experiences that could have been lived in any other hospital or country in the world at that time. The stories of five people who allowed photographer Stefano Schirato to enter their rooms, document the reality of the objects around them and their therapy. Schirato witnessed the hopes and fears of their families, the suffering and distress as well as the joy of their return to life.
The over 30 photographs on display are accompanied by the audio interviews recorded by the journalist Jenny Pacini, who signed the reportage together with Stefano Schirato.
